Santina Maria Grimaldi

b. 1960s, (Italy)

Santina Maria Grimaldi is an Italian ceramist based in Caltagirone, renowned for her innovative approach to ceramic sculpture.

In her studio, Grimaldi creates hybrid sculptures by assembling fragments of broken ceramics, found objects, and other materials, transforming them into intricate, textured forms. Her work explores themes of repair, transformation, and the passage of time, often taking the decorative form of a baroque triumph or a fairy-tale ensemble.

Her work has been exhibited both locally and internationally, most recently in the exhibition Scintille at the Corte Capitaniale in Caltagirone (2023).
