Hideaki Yoshikawa
b 1970 (JAPAN)
Hideaki Yoshikawa is a Japanese artist known for his distinctive ceramic sculptures featuring numerous small faces. Born in 1970 in Shiga Prefecture, he has been a resident artist at Atelier Yamanami since 1988.
Yoshikawa's practice involves creating sculptures by piercing small holes at regular intervals into surfaces such as clay or paper. Each hole represents an "eye, eye, nose, mouth," forming a face. He approaches his work with meticulous care, spending considerable time on each piece.
His work has been exhibited internationally, and his pieces are part of permanent collections at the Centre Pompidou (France) and the and the Shiga Museum of Art (Japan).
