Valerie Potter
B 1954 (ENGLAND)
The art of VALERIE potter was inspired by her discovery of ''Outsider Art,'' a book by Roger Cardinal. Upon reading the seminal text, potter sent Cardinal a group of her drawings. The art historian was so impressed, he agreed to curate Potter’s first solo exhibition.
Today potter alternates between cross-stitch works, line embroideries, and elaborate colour weaves. She crafts fantastical worlds filled with imaginative flora and fauna, stitching together themes of birth, love, and death.
