Martin Rodas & Julia Isidrez

dates unknown (Paraguay)

Juana Marta Rodas was a Paraguayan ceramist, renowned for her deep connection to the traditional pottery of the Guaraní people. She passed down her knowledge and passion for ceramics to her daughter, Julia Isídrez, continuing a family tradition that has become a significant part of contemporary Paraguayan art.

Rodas’s work was deeply rooted in Guaraní heritage, incorporating ancient pottery techniques alongside more modern influences. Isídrez has developed her own distinctive style, combining traditional forms with contemporary interpretations, often creating anthropomorphic and zoomorphic sculptures.

Their works have been showcased in major exhibitions, including the 60th Venice Biennale (2024) and Documenta 13 (Kassel, 2012), as well as Bienal do Mercosul in Brazil, the ARCO International Art Fair in Madrid, and various exhibitions across Paraguay, Brazil, and Europe.
