Leroy Almon

1938 - 1997 (Georgia, USA)

One-time apprentice to Ohio master carver, Elijah Pierce, whose graphic paintings and bas-reliefs were known for a Black biblical narrative and devout sense of spiritual enlightenment. The show features several of his painted works, alongside a rare copy of his wooden illustrated bible.
