Herbert Singleton
Factory worker and street hustler, who chiselled wooden weapons for pimps and dealers, before turning to visceral carved and painted street narratives on found objects. The museum-calibre painted Untitled (Voodoo), c 1980/90 is a sculptural work proudly denouncing racial inequality.
