At Spotlight, Frieze Masters 2025, The Gallery of Everything presents the renowned 20th century female artist, Madge Gill (1882 - 1961). Celebrated for her visionary illustrations and calico murals, up to 30 metres in length, Gill was a highly-respected East End medium and spiritualist, who nominated her private spirit guide - Myrninerest - as the author of her vast and enigmatic channel.

Within her lifetime, Gill’s figurations and abstractions were exhibited to public and critical acclaim. Today she is rightly considered a pioneer of mystical image-making, alongside Georgiana Houghton, Hilma af Klint, Emma Kunz and Ithell Colquhoun.

The current installation, curated by Vivienne Roberts, reveals the astonishing variety of Gill’s practice, and includes works on card, calico fragments and rare large formats.

Recent exhibitions: Delusions of grandeur at the Wallace Collection (2025), curated by Grayson Perry; Foreigners everywhere at the 60th Venice Biennale (2024), curated by Adriano Pedrosa; and Brutal beauty at Barbican (2021), curated by Eleanor Nairne.

Collections: Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), Centre Pompidou (Paris) and La Collection de l’Art Brut (Lausanne).
